Dine in the Dark Update

Standard

This week I contacted many establishments around campus to see if they could donate silent auction items or become a sponsor and I have learned a few things.

  1. Have something ready to say . You don’t want to talk to the manager of the store and stumble over your words. It sounds unprofessional, and when you are asking for a monetary donations you want to sound as professional as possible.
  2. Don’t worry if you go off script. Although you want to have something prepared, you don’t want to sound like you are reading from a script. It should sound natural.
  3. Be prepared to be  told to call back. A lot of times the person you need to speak with is not available because not everyone can just give you money. Be patient and call back as many times as needed.

This is a process that I find to be so much fun. So far I have talked to five companies and I love it. Nothing completely confirmed but it’s a good start.

So there is a short update on DITD,

Michaela
